Ex Baristas Rate Popular Cafes in Korea

The Korea cafe scene has evolved so much since the last time we went (2019 and 2020 respectively). Which ones are worth the hype?

3.5/5 - food and drinks were okay, not bad but not fantastic. Location and ambience were insta worthy so I would say it’s a come once is enough kinda place.

steamed bread was good, do note that everyone had to order one. For the steamed bread, you have to choose at least 1 with filling. Coffee was made in a big batch, we didn’t try as we saw the way it was made and knew we probably wouldn’t like it.

Wouldn’t queue that long again.

Hole in the wall shop that was right under our hotel. Loved the morning vibes with the light pouring in. One of the rare cafes that open at 8am (yes we are early birds). Coffee was good. They have this signature custard coffee which was also q unique and nice!

Cafe is located at the start of Seongsu (if u start from Seoul Forest subway station). This was one of the best iced lattes I’ve ever had! Tasted like macadamia ice cream. Filter was also good. Located on the 2nd floor of a street selling cute craft shops, directly above a small bakery. 10/10 vibes!

📍Jayeondo Salt Bread (multiple locations, we went to the one at Seongsu)

5/5 LIVED UP TO THE HYPE.

Regretted not dabaoing more back to SG. Had the last piece 4 days later (put it in the fridge), heated it up and it was still as good!!

Quite a hipster, artsy space. We got an iced filter cos it was SO HOT. Could taste the grapes and apple in the coffee, with an earl grey aftertaste. So good!

4.5/5 - filter coffees were mindblowing. Coffee has grapes/lychee and grapes/peach. Even on ice, the flavours were well balanced and had enough body to it. However the 2nd time we went, the latte was quite over extracted. Still one of our favourites because of the service, ambience, and location.

5/5 - location, cafes and everything were on point! Seemed like they won a roasting championship. We tried beans from a friend who brought it back for us last year, brewed it 3 mths later and it was still good. The actual cafe is located at a sea front. Will recommend trying their signature vanilla latte which uses real vanilla pods and also their filter. Vibe was 10/10.
