We recently headed to Japan for our honeymoon and tried to eat as many of the food on our wishlist!

Here’s what we ate in 5.5 days! (Prices for 2 pax)

1. Ichiran Ramen

- My husband told me is a MUST TRY, he loves the pork chashu

- Tbh is ok la quite nice, broth is very smooth, not overly salty, noodles also customizable to your preferred doneness

⏰: Around 30min-1hr queue

💰: Affordable! (¥2000)

😋: Will visit again!

2. Shin Udon

- Rushed out of our hotel to get a queue number at 9:27am (they open at 11am), we stayed q near! Turns out we were 3rd in line!! So we went back to dress up before heading back.

- We ordered:

(1) Bacon “carbonara” udon

Bacon tempura is GOATED … it’s so good, not overly oily, crispy and delicious! The udon does get jelak after a while so it helps if you have someone to share with ~

(2) Cold udon with beef

Udon was slightly tougher, felt undercooked but we guessed it’s their way of preparing cold udon 😅 I think it’s quite a nice pairing with the carbonara udon as it’s more refreshing!

(3) Assorted tempuras

Must try the corn tempura if it’s available!! It’s seasonal and super sweet, I think it’s the best one! My husband loves the pork tempura, I think the prawn tempura is average. The vegetable tempura set comes with 4 random items, ours was bitter gourd 😩, egg plant, sweet potato, & pumpkin.

⏰: Around 30min-1hr queue (Do take note that online reservation is available for a fee so your queue number is not entirely accurate as the online queue takes priority)

💰: Affordable! (If u don’t order too much 😂) (¥6000)

😋: Will visit again for the tempura!

3. Kameya

- Located in Omoide Yokocho, be prepared to sweat while queuing and eating hehe

- So far my fav soba and damn cheap but only eat if u don’t have sensitive stomach ok, tbh the cleanliness is not the best but CLOSE YOUR EYES AND EAT CAN LIAO 👍🏻

- Cold and hot both damn nice! But if u like crispy kakiage, you can request for them to put on a separate plate for u instead ~

⏰: Around 10-20min queue (v fast turn around!)

💰: Super affordable! (¥1100)

😋: Will 100% visit again!!!!!!!!

4. Morimasu

- Also located in Omoide Yokocho, we looked ard the whole street before deciding on an Izakaya with “young fit guys” hahaha

- The food and drinks are nice BUT damn expensive. They have a ¥500 cover charge AND you have to order based on how many pax you have — e.g. 2 pax = every item must order 2 sticks, which I think is quite ridiculous …

⏰: Short queue (unless ppl are not leaving!)

💰: Expensive 🫠 (¥6500)

😋: Will not visit again :(

5. Coco Ichibanya

- Lmao my husband’s no. 1 fav place in Japan … did yall know he don’t let me eat Coco Ichibanya in SG at all bc he say too expensive and not as nice 🤦🏻‍♀️

- Anyway food was good, order the scrambled / omelette eggs, they’re so runny and smooth!

⏰: No queue!

💰: Affordable! (~¥2000)

😋: Will visit again!

6. Ginza Kagari

- Chicken based ramen

- We ordered:

(1) Chicken Paitan Truffle Ramen

The truffle taste fit so well with the chicken broth. I really enjoyed it ~ The soup was smooth and not overly heavy, chicken was tender as well.

(2) Chicken Paitan Shoyu Ramen

Soup was slightly salty, due to the shoyu, but still not bad overall. I can’t believe the broths tasted so different even though they are both chicken-based!

(3) Additional Pork Char Siu

- Must order! I think it adds a different texture from the chicken slices.

⏰: No queue when we were there!

💰: Affordable! (~¥3200)

😋: Will visit again!

7. Yappari Steak

- It’s so good!!! I can’t believe a franchise steak house has such nice and tender steak?? Lmao I damn blown away … also wasabi with steak is such a goated combination I cannot stop THINKING about it

- Also I love their MSG soup lol … probably just egg water starch and msg …

- Just order the Number 1 recommended, you won’t go wrong ~ comes with free flow salad bar + drinks

⏰: No queue!!! (Unlike Vivocity 😩)

💰: Affordable! (~¥3000)

😋: Will visit again!

8. Hikiniku to Come

- I kept seeing ppl rave abt this place so I decided to make a reservation. Bear in mind you have to pay to reserve (¥1000 per pax)

- Each set comes with 3 patties (you can opt for less but same price so why …), miso soup, a raw egg, and free flow rice.

- There’s also an assortment of sauces, seasonings, and toppings for you to add onto your patties. We also added the Miso Sauce for ¥100. My fav is the peppers, salt, miso sauce, and raw egg dip ~

- My husband was so impressed that he opened their reservation page on the spot to see when else he can book 😂 clown behavior

⏰: Only reservation, no physical queue

💰: Affordable! (~¥3600)

😋: Will 100% visit again!!!

9. Kanda Tamagoken

- Stumbled onto this place near our hotel so we decided to try as they advertised omu-rice that will MELT in your mouth 🤔

- Demiglaze vs Cream Sauce, I would say pick the cream sauce / mix sauce as the Demiglaze gets a bit salty after a while. But the cream sauce was soooo delicious, wish they gave more 😩

- The egg was really smooth and silky, I wish it would never end … also get the crab croquette, it’s so creamy and crispy, it’s a great addition to mix with the rice!!

⏰: Around 20min queue if crowded (small shop)

💰: Affordable (~¥2700)

😋: Will visit again!
