How to have a cheap Cancun vacation 🌴

Here’s a breakdown on how to have a cheap vacation to Cancun!

🌴 Stay outside the hotel zone!

In the hotel zones, most of the places to stay are all inclusive hotels and are VERY expensive. If you plan to leave the hotel often, it’s not worth it book an all inclusive. You will save hundreds of dollars by staying outside the hotel zone or on the edges of it.

🌴Eat local foods!

The best and cheapest food is where the locals are eating! Lots of cheap food is downtown but there are some cheap options sprinkled in the hotel zone. I highly recommend Parque las Palapas! (Scroll down a few posts for more info)

🌴Shop away from the hotel zone!

Buy souvenirs from the downtown area. (Mercado 28)

You’ll find lots of similar souvenirs being sold for different prices but downtown has some of the most consistent and cheap pricing.

🌴book tours!

Many tours will include multiple activities and sights to see as well as transportation. Booking these tours will be cheaper and more convenient than booking things separately. I highly recommend amigo tours!

🌴Splurge wisely!

Let’s be real, it’s almost impossible not to spurge on a vacation. If you’re going to splurge choose wisely what do it on! There’s plenty of activities that include food & drinks. I’d recommend one day at an Xcaret park because they include transportation, food, drinks and activities!
