BOOK REVIEW: Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater

A cozy fantasy meets a Regency romance with a few faeries.

Book Summary:

As a young girl named Theodora (Dora) has an unpleasant encounter with a faerie lord one day in the forest. She is saved by her cousin and a pair of iron scissors. But the faerie steals something from Dora and now she cannot express emotions. Or really feel feelings at all. She and her cousin seek the help of the new Lord Sorcier in London to undo the curse. But the Lord Sorcier has a secret of his own...

My Review:

This was an excellent palate cleanser book. It was short, beautifully written, and easy to digest. I love books like that when I'm in a bit of a reading slump. If you like Fantasy and Regency romances, this is a great book to try!

Despite her lack of emotions, I loved Dora! She was a wonderful main character that seemed to possess more caring than any of her emotion-feeling acquaintances. The book was a beautiful testament to the detriment of the class system. And how so often the poor are overlooked, despite society being built on their backs.

I listened to this on audiobook and highly recommend the experience!
