๐Ÿ“Jeju-si, South Korea

Daily budget: $25-45

Jeju is a very underrated budget travel destination just south of continental South Korea. Itโ€™s very affordable to fly there from cities like Seoul and Busan, typically under $20 for a one-way flight. Hostels are under $15/night for a dorm bed even in peak season (summer). Food is not super cheap but still relatively affordable at around $7-12/meal at cheap restaurants. Bus trips around the island are only $1-2 and most activities (hikes, beaches, waterfalls) are free or only a couple of $.

๐Ÿ“Ko Lipe, Thailand

Daily budget: $20-35

Koh Lipe is one of the more remote islands in Thailand still not too crowded. Itโ€™s not the cheapest island to visit but itโ€™s still possible to find accommodation for about $10/night or so at hostels and meals for $2-3 at cheap restaurants/street food. The beaches are free to enjoy but you might also want to go on a snorkelling trip for about $20-30.

๐Ÿ“George Town Penang, Malaysia

Daily budget: $15-30

Penang is a great island to experience both the Malaysian culture and nature. There are many places to admire street art and experience the religions but also to swim at beautiful beaches and do some hiking. Hostels are about $6-12/night and food is $1-3/meal. Most activities are free or only a couple of $.

๐Ÿ“Phuket, Thailand

Daily budget: $20-35

Phuket is a huge island with so many things to do and also many budget-friendly activities! There are a lot of free beaches and cultural sights to explore for free. Hostels are typically $5-10/night and meals $1-3 at cheap restaurants/street food places.
