1. Spend more time in lesser-known destinations

It is very hard to be a budget traveler in the most popular European destinations, such as the UK, France, Italy, and Greece, if you are visiting in peak season. Consider visiting some less popular and more affordable destinations instead or in addition to a few nights in the more expensive places.

2. Go on free walking tours

There are free walking tours in almost every European city. They are tip-based so you do have to pay but often it’s still cheaper than going on expensive guided tours.

3. Don’t forget about supermarkets

Instead of eating out for every meal, get some groceries especially for breakfasts and some lunches/dinners. This is easier if you have a kitchen at your accommodation but even if you don’t, there are still some easy meals available at most supermarkets.

4. Do not stress about clothes too much

I see so many people purchase whole new wardrobes for their European summer… if you have the money, go for it, but trust me that it is not necessary AT ALL! Just wear clothes you already have, it’s really not as serious as many people make it out be and no one will care about what you’re wearing.
