Overrated activities in New York & what to do instead 🌆

📍Overrated: SUMMIT One Vanderbilt

📍Do instead: Top of The Rock or Edge

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is cool BUT so busy! In my opinion, the view is also not quite as good as the one from Top of the Rock. I’d recommend you choose Top of the Rock for a little less crowds and better views or Edge for similar views and way less crowds + opportunity to see the sunset without paying extra!

📍Overrated: Guided cruises

📍Do instead: Staten Island Ferry

I took a guided cruise and in my opinion the experience was not great when considering the price. The views are nice but not that different from the ones you can see on the free Staten Island Ferry and other free viewpoints in the city. The tour part is also kind of rushed and it can be hard to keep up with what buildings the guide is talking about, especially because of noise on the boat. The Staten Island Ferry is free and has great views of the skyline and you can even see the Statue of Liberty.

📍Overrated: Biking in Central Park

📍Do instead: Walk in Central Park

Biking in Central Park is quite popular but it can get so busy and kind of stressful. You also aren’t allowed to bring bikes to most spots in the park and you have to stay on the main roads. This means you can’t really get into all the places as easily with a bike and you will have to constantly be around many other people instead of enjoying the more quiet paths.
