4 things to know before visiting Portugal part 2🇵🇹

🎒Portugal is a great destination for backpackers

Portugal is pretty affordable, there are a lot of great hostels, and the country is easy to get around by train and bus. These factors make it a great backpacking destination!

🥾Consider doing some longer hikes

Portugal has great hiking opportunities and even though I didn’t personally get around to doing some very long ones, the hikes I did were incredible and I definitely want to return one day to hike more along the coast!

🌦️The weather can be unpredictable in shoulder season

Although shoulder season is probably the best time to visit Portugal, be prepared for the weather to be unpredictable and change quickly. It can be very windy by the coast and weather conditions can vary a lot throughout the day. There were also often days when my weather app told me it’d be just raining but it was sunny at times so even if it’s looking bad, you can still have some sunny hours!

💸Activities can quickly add up

Although Portugal is a pretty affordable country, many of the popular tourist activities and attractions are relatively expensive and will quickly add up if you want to do them all. This applies to many attractions in Lisbon, Sintra, and boat trips in the Algarve.
