Have You Ever Been to a Star Party? 🔭💫

When I heard of a "Star Party" in Fort Davis, Texas - I just knew I HAD to do it!

This was a great little side trip from Marfa and I urge you to include it in your itinerary because the dark skies of this part of Texas make it a really special place to view the night skies! Something we typically cannot enjoy in larger cities.

McDonald Observatory Star Party

3640 Dark Sky Dr, Fort Davis, Texas

🔭 Star Parties are held by McDonald Observatory every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday only so plan accordingly!

🔭 They describe it as an open-air constellation tour. It begins with a commentary around a outdoor amphitheater and is followed by special viewings through telescopes set around the facility. Great for kids.

🔭 It's $25/adult and lasts 2hrs

🔭 Depending on the time of year you go, it can get really cold so I suggest packing extra blankets and wear enough layers!

🔭 To get here, you'll need to drive from Fort Worth, Texas to Fort Davis for around 7hrs 10mins or from Marfa like we did which was only 45mins.
