48 Hours in Yellowstone National Park, WY

Yellowstone National Park is HUGE and you'll see that most blogs will recommend at least 2 days here - this is what we did with the limited time we had and it was definitely packed with a lot of walking, waiting, and driving.

I have listed some helpful tips and things to know while planning your visit to Yellowstone NP in another post. Below is my recommended 2-day itinerary while there. Enjoy!!

Transportation: There are some tours you can take, but I highly recommend having your own car.

DAY ONE - Geysers and Mudpots

💨 Morning: Explore the @Upper Geyser Basin *** Pro Trip to get away from the crowds is this trail option: Observation Point Trail (0.6miles per way, great views of Old Faithful, 230ft elevation and takes about an hour). It starts along Upper Geyser Basin Loop.

💨 Lunch: We usually prefer to pack our own meals but you'll find some eateries within the park

💨 Afternoon: Midway Geyser Basin, Artists Paintpots

💨 Rest early as it's probably been a long day at this point! We stayed in Canyon Lodge & Cabins within Yellowstone - will detail cost and my experience in another post.

DAY TWO - Canyons, Hot Springs, and Basins

💨 Morning: Start your day early at Hayden Valley for animal sightings and always keep a safe distance.

💨 Before lunch, drive the North & South Rims to experience beautiful views of the Grand Canyon Of The Yellowstone

💨 Lunch nearby at Canyon VillageCanyon Village

💨 Afternoon: Drive to Mammoth Hot Springs l and end your afternoon at Norris Porcelain Basin (my favorite!)
