im currently on a journey of going through my home and replacing lower quality potentially toxic items with higher quality, clean options! next on my list is kitchen items-- more specifically, cooking utensils. I have switched over to almost completely wooden utensils, and here's why:

🤍durable and strong

-much less likely to break if they're well-maintained and could potentially last a lifetime!

🤍does not conduct heat or melt

-overtime, plastic utensils can start to melt at the tips from exposure to heat while cooking

🤍wood doesn't scratch the surfaces of your pots and pans

🤍wood is naturally more antibacterial

🤍renewable and recycle= more environmentally friendly

🤍...and I just love the look of a thoughtfully collected curation of kitchen tools :)

...and why Im staying away from plastic cooking utensils:

👎 when heated, plastic can release harmful toxins called oligomers which are formed while the plastic is being produced

👎 black plastic is especially dangerous because it can contain ewaste and often contains flame retardants like bromine and other heavy metals that can cause serious illness overtime

👎 non recyclable

I have collected most of my wooden utensils over the span of a couple years-- my favorite place to find solid wood utensils is actually at the thrift store! just give them a good clean like I mentioned in the above photos and your good to go ☺️
