HUGE NEWS: 2 more books in the Legendborn Cycle!!

There’s going to be two more books in the Legendborn Cycle following Legendborn and Bloodmarked. The third book, titled Oathbound, will be out in early 2025! With such a long wait (take your time Tracey girl!!) I thought I’d share some thoughts of the first two books!

Legendborn was a big deal for me. At the time that I read it, I hadn’t read much fantasy with Black centered protagonists especially ones that reminded me of people in my real life. My little sister felt so much like the main character Bree, at least in the first book!

While I had some small issues with the first book, I ultimately loved it. I especially loved the representation of the grief/how grief was discussed, Bree’s support system, and how mature the characters felt for their age.

I didn’t feel as strongly about Bloodmarked, but at the same time, I think I had become a stronger reader at that point. Regardless, while it was fun at times, I felt like I was on a rollercoaster of emotions. There were times when I was so excited and proud of Bree and other moments where I was so confused on the direction she took. I also really didn’t like the decisions she made toward the end of the book.

I’m still excited to see what Tracey does in the next two books!!
