DIY EASY & AFFORDABLE Faux Limewash walls 😍✨

Hello 🍋8 homeowners!

I’ll be sharing my experience on a #homediy project my husband and I did - Faux Limewash walls!!!

We’ve initially wanted to do real limewash BUT ofc, after considering the number of walls & large area that we intended to do it for, even with DIY, it was going to be super costly! 💸

As such, we managed to find an alternative to achieve the limewash wall look on a budget! 😁😙

Disclaimer: while saving $$, it is relatively easy BUT does require a lot of effort! You also have to ensure that you match colours well based on the colour you’re going for!!! My husband spent 2 full weeks analysing the Nippon colour book to pick out a few shades! We also did spend $$$ to get more samples either way and tested it out before embarking on this whole project!

some key tips besides what I’ve shared in the pictures!

1. Sometimes the ratio of colours would depend on the colour you’re going for. We did the first coat using an estimate of 20-80 for the “lighter” shade vs “darker” shade. It was slightly too light after that so we adjusted it to 40-60% for the 2nd coat and thankfully managed to achieve the look we were going for!

2. Test & practise with SAMPLES! Let it dry and see how you like it! Painting an “X” and blending out the paint does take practise! Honestly my husband was way better at this than me hahah so I just did what I could and he would touch it up/correct spots for me!

3. Get brushes in 2 different sizes - one smaller one for corners and another bigger one! The brush size can help make the limewash effect look more spread out or concentrated!

The shades we ultimately chose were white lace & Sands! Loved how creamy and cosy they both colours look 😙❤️
