My proven steps to creating online art classes

I'm in the process of putting together a brand-new Skillshare class, inspired by our favorite novels and the beautiful world of art! 🖌️📖

As an avid reader and passionate artist, I've always found immense joy in bringing the words on the page to life through visual expression. 🎭🎨 From the enchanting settings and fascinating characters to the emotions that resonate deep within us, literature has a magical way of inspiring creativity.

In this upcoming class, we'll embark on an artistic journey, exploring various techniques and mediums to capture the essence of beloved literary works. 🌌🖋️

But here's the secret sauce! 🤫✨ As a Skillshare teacher, the process of putting a class together is an adventure in itself. It starts with endless brainstorming sessions.

1- Have a great idea. What problem can you solve? What do you know how to do, that others would love learning about?

2- Rough outline the course. Write down all your ideas, separating them into main topics.

3- Flesh out the ideas and projects. Since I’m teaching art classes I spend a bunch of time working on project ideas to find the best ones to teach the skill or technique I’m focusing on.

4- Write your scripts. I like to write detailed scripts…these become my framework for planning out my filming schedule.

5- Schedule a recording day or days. I try to have everything ready before film day so I can get all the filming done in one day.

6- Record any B-roll or voice overs. This is where I record anything I missed during film day.

7- Edit the videos - this is the hardest part if you ask me. Some love this step…but I hate it. Thankfully now I have my son who is a video edit do it for me. So at this step I’m organizing all my files and getting those sent over to him with a detailed outline and any notes I may have for him.

8- Marketing the class. This is where I start promoting the class. Putting together blog posts, social media posts, videos and talking about the class as much as possible.

9- Load finished class videos to Skillshare or wherever the class will be hosted.

10- Publish and launch!!!
