💭— Housed in an unassuming shophouse in Ann Siang Hill, Lolla boasts an open facing kitchen with counter seats. It’s very communal, and definitely not for a super intimate occasion. I was surprised to find out about their accolades and decade-long tenancy, given how it has fashionably stayed out of the “mainstream” social media food scene.

Sea Urchin Pudding

Hand Torn Brown Crab Pasta

Iberico Secreto & Braised Cabbage

Doughnuts & Lemon Curd

The food here truly speaks for itself. The sea urchin pudding might look gimmicky, but it’s the black pudding is a godsend. Made of squid ink, egg yolks, and tomato, it is the perfect creamy base that allows the briny uni flavour to shine through. Don’t underestimate the portion size, it is extremely decadent and should be shared imo.

The crab pasta was perfectly al dente and silky from the sauce. I would say this doesn’t pay homage to traditional pasta, but it is comforting and homely in another way. Can get a tad greasy though, but the flavours are so worth the food coma. A highlight for pasta lovers (like me)

Iberico was juicy and so so tender, I barely had to chew. I would’ve liked a different texture from the braised cabbage though. Probably wouldn’t order this again, but it’s by no means average.

I feel like dessert always lets me down (the marshmallow at Burnt Ends almost ruined my entire meal) and this was sadly, no exception. The doughnuts were too oily for my liking. I usually love lemon curd and never have anything bad to say about it, but this one was grainy for some reason. But they are known for their cheesecakes if I’m not wrong, so maybe give that a shot instead.

💰— $120 for 2

📈 — 5/5 for sure. I don’t think the prices are really far off from any other trendy restaurant in the area, but the food is absolutely stunning and justifies its price.
