I Made a Chair That Went Viral on Tiktok 🪑

This is an easy DIY that is so worth trying!

I tried this DIY with just an old chair, a Sherpa blanket, and a staple gun.

Step 1: Find a base to do the project on. I found mine on Facebook Marketplace for $40 that someone was getting rid of. It was still in great condition! An important factor for me was the shape of the chair. I made sure to get a chair that was similar to a boucle chair from Crate & Barrel that I was trying to recreate.

Step 2: Get all of your supplies! Get a Sherpa blanket that will cover your chair. The one that I got is from Target. It’s just a simple white Sherpa blanket. Also make sure you have a staple gun, fabric scissors, threat, and needle in hand.

Step 3: Time to make the chair! Start from one side of the blanket and start stapling with the staple gun. I started stapling from the bottom of the base of the chair (made out of wood) to make sure that the staples were hidden. And just go for it and cover the whole chair with the blanket with the staples.

Step 4 (option): If your cushion comes off like mine did, it didn’t have a wooden base to staple on. I had to cover the cushion with the blanket using a needle and thread for stitching.

Pro Tip: the blanket fabric is very stretchy. Make sure you pull the blanket taut before you staple so there are no wrinkles or gaps.
