Pros & Cons of being a Gen Z corporate girlie 👜✨

I won’t lie, I’ve definitely been treated differently at work because I’m Gen Z. Sometimes for the better, and other times for the worse.

However, I’ve never had an experience that was extreme — just mainly your typical “Gen Z is lazy” conversations or getting judged for using certain slang words irl.

The thing is, older generations just don’t understand us yet! While we’re growing into our roles and finding our place in the corporate world, it’s an adjustment for other generations as well.

And this happens every time there is a new generation. Us Gen Z-ers will probably feel the same way when Gen Alpha enters the chat. 😂

So it’s all part of the experience! The good thing is, there are a lot of benefits to being Gen Z in the workplace. I’ve had people rely on me for knowledge on trends and the needs of our generation as a target demographic.

I’ve also had people admire our ability to create boundaries and push against existing ones that seem outdated (like working 5 days in office rather than just having a hybrid / remote 4 day work week).

Gen Z is just misunderstood and with time people will see our value! They are already starting to 😁
