Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons honey
- A dash of salt
- Optional: Everything bagel seasoning
Instructions:
1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water and honey. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour and a dash of salt.
3. Combine: Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it into the flour mixture. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
4. Knead: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Shape the Loaf: Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. If using, sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top and gently press it in.
7. Second Rise: Place the shaped loaf in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes.
8. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
9. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
10. Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
