I finished The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate, and I really loved it! This is the first in the Five Pack series, and is a rejected mate, fated mates, werewolf shifter romance between Una and Killian.

Una is so relatable! I won’t go into spoilers, but let’s just say the way that her and Killian’s relationship starts off is very rocky. I completely understood how painful it was for Una, who had previously thought there was something wrong with her that makes her unlovable. Her trying to do whatever she could to remove the source of that pain was so understandable, especially considering it only made everyone treat her worse than they already did. It made seeing her and Killian soften towards each other that much sweeter as she comes to like the fact that he looks out for her, while also remaining as fiercely independent as she is from the start. I hated how the pack treats Una and her friends, and it made sense how the idea of pure freedom away from everyone was so tempting to her, but I also loved that she wrestled with that idea and the realistic notion that she also knows she needs her family that she’s carved out with the people she truly loves and who love her back. I loved how annoyed she was about the fact that she still remained attracted to Killian, despite her telling herself that they’d never be together and that she didn’t even like him as a person. At the end of the day though, she remained loyal to her ideals that she’d rather have her freedom than be in a relationship where she wasn’t happy. That’s something I tell myself a lot too. And it makes Una realizing Killian loves her without him having to say the words that much sweeter as she finally gives herself over to her feelings and her desires.

It took a bit, but I ended up really loving Killian. Before he accepts that Una is his mate, his wolf side is completely obsessed with her, even while his human side reminds him of his previous belief that he didn’t have a mate at all. He has this inner ear inside him where Una is concerned, trying to convince himself he feels nothing for her while his wolf is right there to remind him that she’s their mate. Funny enough, if it were me in his shoes, I’d probably be having the same inner argument with myself if I ever had feelings for someone. It was hilarious how bewildered he was by his mate bond with Una; he can’t even go a few minutes without searching for her or thinking about her to the point where it drives his human side crazy when he’s used to being in control of both his human and his wolf. He really does the work to make things better for Una and her friends when she informs him of how the pack has failed them for so long, and in those moments, we see a very sweet man trying his best to make up for years of neglect towards certain members of the pack. And as far as Una’s happiness is concerned, he bends himself over backwards trying to make her as happy as possible.

I really loved the start of this series, and I’ll definitely be picking up more Cate C. Wells in the future💕
