LinkedIn is a powerful tool for every stage of your career. Here are some of the basics to effectively using Linkedin:

PROFILE:

It is important to have a professional profile photo and background photo as that is the first impression of your profile. Tip: put a picture of your school or city as your background photo!

Use the feature section to highlight your resume, website if you have one, and any major career milestones.

Your about section should tell your story.. Who you are and what you are passionate about.

The experience section is your opportunity to tell the details of your roles that your resume leaves out.

Projects: if you are a student, you can use this section to showcase an assignment from a class that you are proud of

Networking:

Connect with everyone you can! People at your school, company, or people you have worked with in the past. Their network will become your network.

Don’t be afraid to send a connection request with someone you don’t know. If you are interested in their career, send them a quick note and tell them! Maybe even ask for a coffee chat.
