Plant Care Essentials

Products I use regularly for plant maintenance:

-MOISTURE METER. I love this tool for gauging moisture in the soil. I’m not a fan of using my finger and it never steers my wrong😉.

-RAIN WATER. We (my husband;) installed a rain barrel a few years ago and our plants definitely seem healthier since using rainwater. **I cannot collect rainwater year round because of where we live, I distill water for our plants in the winter months.

-THIEVES. I use Thieves mixed with water to clean the leaves of our plants. It’s also supposed to help deter pests. Not sure if that’s true but that’s what I was told when I bought it.

-NEEM OIL. I use this when I have a pest problem. Rinse the plant with water to remove the pests and then spray with Neem. I repeat this weekly until I know the pests are gone. Remember: Neem plus direct sunlight will burn the plant. I learned this the hard way.

-STICKY TRAPS. These are a must if you have those little fungus gnats. They really work!

-PLANT SHEARS. Great for removing dead/dying leaves or for propagating. Regular scissors work too and remember to disinfect after every use;)

-PLANT FOOD/FERTILIZER. To insure our plants are healthy, strong and continue to grow, I like to give them a dose of nutrients about once a month during the spring and summer months.

Everyone has different methods on how to take care of their plants. I’m definitely not an expert, but these are the things that work for me🌿
