💔 FINAL CRATE & BARREL SALE — IS IT WORTH IT? 🛍️

Crate & Barrel recently announced that they will be closing in Singapore, much to the shock of many 😧 It’s been 10 years since they first opened in Singapore, but they will be shuttering by 31 May 2023.

As a result of the closure, Crate & Barrel is offers up to 40% off, both online and in stores 🛍️ We happened to be at Ion Orchard and swung by to take a look at the sales, and here’s the situation so far:

👉🏻 BE PREPARED TO QUEUE TO GO IN

We were there around 7.00 PM on a Wednesday evening and there was already a snaking queue outside the Crate & Barrel store, with hoards of people shopping inside. Be prepared to queue to go in, and there were some shoppers who were turned away as it was getting too crowded inside 😵‍💫⚠️ Last entry into the store is at 8.00 PM so you might want to visit earlier!

👉🏻 STOCKS VARY IN-STORE & YOU WILL HAVE TO HUNT FOR WHAT YOU WANT

The stocks are not exactly organised in the most orderly manner and you will have to hunt for what you want 👀 —— e.g. we came across at least 3 different sections selling serveware, with unclear pricing (no price tags, no staff on the ground except for cashiers) 😕

The crowd also made it challenging to shop for items, as people could be crowding a certain section or bumping into you while you have fragile items, so you gotta be extra cautious! 😮‍💨

👉🏻 NO CLEAR PRICING

Many of the items on sale did not have any price tags on them and some of them did not even state the retail prices (before discount) 🤨 Some products were also mixed up and/or not in their original place, so the prices may not match up —— e.g. you may think the measuring cup is going for $20 but ends up being a different price.

Our suggestion is to use the guide to pricing discounts stuck all over the store, so you can estimate how much your purchases might be 💰 Otherwise, don’t be shy to ask for the price at the cashier before deciding if you want to cart out the item! 🛒

Do your homework before the sale 📝 Browse Crate & Barrel's website or visit the store in advance to identify the items you're interested in 💻 Make a list of must-haves and prioritise accordingly. This will save you time and ensure you don't miss out on your favorite pieces amidst the frenzy 😵‍💫

3️⃣ QUALITY CHECK & CONSCIOUS SHOPPING 🧐🌍

While the discounts may be enticing, don't forget to inspect the items before making a purchase. Check for any damages, scratches, or defects that could affect the functionality or aesthetic appeal 🔍 It's important to strike a balance between a good deal and ensuring you're getting a high-quality piece 👑 There will be a dizzying array of items available, but don’t forget to practise mindful, conscious shopping and think about whether you really need those items! 💬
