For the apple fillings:
- 10-12 apples, peeled, cored and sliced thinly
-1/2 cup dark brown sugar
-1/2 cup white sugar
-1 tbsp corn starch
-juice of 1 lemon
For the dough:
-2 cups flour
-1/2 cup dark brown sugar
-1/2 cup white sugar
-2 tsp baking powder
-1 tsp salt
-12 tbsp butter, softened to room temperature (1.5 sticks)
-1/2 cup HOT water
-1/2 white sugar & 2 tbsp cinnamon, for the top
1. Preheat oven to 425. Have a 9x13 glass baking dish ready.
2. Combine the filling ingredients in the 9x13 dish. Mix well. NOTE: when cutting apples, keep the slices in water to keep from turning really brown
3. Bake ingredients at 425 for 10-15 min, stirring occasionally.
4. While thatβs baking, combing the flour, sugars, baking powder and salt. Add the butter and mush into flour mix until it looks like cornmeal.
5. While mixing, add the water until just combined.
6. Once the apples look yummy, take them out and spoon in the dough on top. Spread it a lil make it look nice and then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mix on top.
7. Bake for about 30 mins, until sugar gets nice and crispy π
