Hey zesties! 🍋

I've been in this industry for nearly 7 years now, and let me tell you, it's been a rollercoaster ride! 🎢 I've laughed, I've cried (yes, even in front of the kids sometimes!), and I've learned so much along the way.

I've had moments where I wanted to throw in the towel, feeling burnt out and questioning if I was still cut out for teaching. But thanks to my incredible team of teachers and a few tricks I've picked up, I've not only stuck it out but grown stronger.

Here are three things I wish I knew earlier in my journey as a preschool teacher:

1️⃣ My Job ≠ my Personality

Your job is important, but it doesn't define you entirely. It took me a while to realize that. I used to bring work home mentally, constantly thinking and worrying about it. Now, I've set boundaries. Work stays at work, and when I'm home, I focus on myself and my loved ones. It's made a world of difference!

2️⃣ Manage Your Own Expectations

Kids are kids, and they're still learning. I used to expect too much too soon from them. Now, I remind myself to take it easy. Whether it's getting them to eat veggies or master a new skill, patience and flexibility are key. It's all about finding what works best for each child and celebrating their progress, however small.

3️⃣ Clock Out On Time!

Guilty as charged—I used to stay late almost every day, thinking it was necessary to get everything done. Not anymore! I've learned to prioritize and manage my time better. Clocking out on time has helped me recharge and maintain a healthier work-life balance. The work will always be there, but my well-being comes first.

To all my fellow early educators out there, especially those just starting out, hang in there! 💪 You'll face challenges, but each hurdle is a chance to learn and grow. Trust me, it gets easier with experience. Keep that passion alive and remember to take care of yourself along the way. You've got this! 🌈
