🤍 tips for law school interviews and tests
✨ do not study the law!!!!
• you might not be able to fully understand the law and therefore say something inaccurate or totally off which you do not want that to happen
• instead, use your common sense and logic to give your reasons to your answers
✨ be meticulous in analysing the question ; but of course be quick!
• if you need to think, tell the interviewer to give you a bit of time
• you may even use your favourite PEEL format to structure your answer the question!
• remember, the interviewers are looking at how you REASON.
example:
❌
q: why do you like apples?
a: because they are sweet, so i like apples
✅
a: apples are healthy and nutritious that keeps my energy high! i am a particularly active girl and love playing sports. therefore, turning to this sweet delicious fruit compliments my active lifestyle! moreover, apples are sweet which satisfies my sweet tooth 😆 however, apples can be sour at times. but it is relatively guess which are the sour ones, like green apples! so i’d just choose the red ones :) hence, i like apples!
✨ give your reasons clearly and develop why!
✨ offer counterarguments and REBUT them
✨ are you assuming too fast? maybe certain facts are missed out, and with a tweak in the facts, your outcome might change!
🤍 my interview question
nus: cheap and dirty justice is better than no justice at all. what is your view?
smu: old lady enters a park owned by npark for her daily morning stroll. she sees a sign that states to be careful of the possibility of trees falling because of heavy rain the previous night. she ignores the sign and continues her walk. a tree actually falls as she was walking under it and she eventually dies by getting hit from it. who is liable?
🤍 test experience
nus: gave a hypothetical & a fake statute. asked us to use the fake statute to discuss the parties’ liabilities. the next qn was whether we agreed with the actions of the immoral party
smu: test about constitutional law?!!!!! (i died in this one)
i hoped this helped!! ✨😆 all the best!!! comment if you have any other questions ❤️
