TDLR; Fungal acne is a skin condition caused by an overgrowth of yeast on the skin. It often presents as small, red, pimple-like bumps and can be confused with traditional acne. It is commonly found on areas with high levels of oil and sweat!

To maintain clear skin without relying on Nizoral, which can be overly drying and harm your skin's moisture barrier, here’s some other methods you can try!

1. Make sure you check if your skincare products are safe for fungal acne! You’d be surprised to find out some products do more harm to fungal acne skin than good! I use Folliculitis Scout and Skinsort to double check.

2. De La Cruz Acne Treatment 10% Sulfur Ointment is a spot treatment that effectively treats fungal acne and other skin conditions. Sulfur has antifungal and antibacterial properties, making it a great ingredient for fighting fungal acne. When I use this, i can see immediate results as the fungal acne would calm down almost instantly. It also serves as a gentle exfoliant, as other exfoliating products can be too harsh and harm the skin's moisture barrier. To maintain healthy skin, it is important not to disrupt the skin's protective barrier!!

3. When I have only a few bumps on my forehead, I’ll use the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion as a spot treatment! It effective in treating breakouts and calming irritated skin because of its unique blend of salicylic acid and calamine. I love using this for acne too!

4. After using the drying treatment, please please remember to moisturise. I did not do that and realised I was stuck in a cycle of fungal acne returning! When the skin is dehydrated, the barrier becomes weakened, making it more susceptible to damage. I use the Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion as it is safe and has simple hydrating ingredients. Remember that keeping the skin moisturised helps to maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier which repairs and strengthen it as well!
