Going for Kombini Runs In Japan! 🏪

Japan’s convenience stores or Kombini as they are known, is very famous for it’s assortment of different food, snacks, drinks and desserts. They have a large variety that it’s nearly impossible to try them all! So I was definitely excited to go on Kombini runs and try out what they have to offer! There are 3 main kombinis in Japan, namely Familymart, 7/11 & Lawsons! Here is some of the food I tried in these stores!

1️⃣ Lawson:

🍙 Mentaiko Onigiri (7.5/10) - It is packed with salty mentaiko at the bottom and it was abit spicy, good for a quick snack

🐄 Potato Beef Croquette (7/10) - Subtantial filling but not too creamy and it has got abit of spice as well

🦑 Fried squid (7/10) - One of my favourite fried snacks here, it is soft and chewy yet not too rubbery, really satisfying

🥤Kirin Lemon Soda (8.5/10) - Fresh and sparkly like lemon sprite, definitely a very refreshing drink that isn’t too sweet

🥓🥔 Bacon Potato Salad (7.5/10) - It is creamy from the mayo and salty because of the bacon making it a very nice side dish

🐔 Lawson Spicy Chicken (8.5/10) - IMO, this chicken way more crisp and juicier than the more popular Famichiki

🍤 Fried Spicy Mentaiko (9/10) - It is very crispy and its stuffed full of memtaiko, it is like eating mentaiko fries but way better

🍓🥭Fruit Sandwhich (8.5/10) - It tastes very good, especially with this cream yoghurt thing in the middle which goes with the fruits that made it less jelak, a very nice dessert option

🐔 Tartar Karage (8/10) - It is amazing how they manage to add tartar INSIDE the karage itself and each bite was bursting with tar tar sauce and a juicy chicken. Their karage has many different flavours like Lemon, Cheese etc as well

2️⃣ 7-11:

🥖Curry Bread (6.5/10) - The bread is full of sweet curry althought the bread isn’t very crispy and is more soggy

🐟 Spicy Pollock Roe (7/10) - I was surprised that they actually sold the roe itself and it is a nice side dish to pair with other stuff although it is quite salty.

3️⃣ FamilyMart:

🐔 Famichiki Spicy (7/10) - Nice spice but abit too dry for me

🍦Whipped Cream Pan (8.5/10) - Same crispy outer layering as a melon pan but it is sweeter and milkier and on the inside they have got the cream filling that makes it less dry as compared to the normal melon one

🍊Orangepresso (7.5/10) - Look like water but has this fruity orange taste to it that is quite nice

Definitely a must try experience in Japan, and it is so accessible since every corner has a convenience store or another! Not to mention the fact that the food are so so gooood and cheap.

🥚 Egg Mayo Sandwich (9/10) - Their egg mayo sandwich is so creamy and savoury but it is not too jelak and abit smoky

🍙 Onigiri Mentaiko (6/10) - Not that much mentaiko pasta as lawson so too much rice

Spicy Ring Crackers (7/10) - Damn spicy and got flavour, good for a beer snack

Definitely a must try experience in Japan, and it is so accessible since every corner has a convenience store or another! Not to mention the fact that the food are so so gooood and cheap.
