skincare sandwich method: using retinol safely 💞

what the heck is the skincare sandwich method???? someone at kiehl’s introduced me this method when i was looking at their retinol!

this method is good for those who havent used retinol before or who has more of a sensitive skin! but its jus a good method for anyone using retinol to use!

soooo this method is applying a thin layer of moisturiser on ur face before ur retinol then applying another layer of moisturiser! so its basically a sandwich 🥪.

it helps to lock in moisture and avoid possible irritation from the retinol! i think its definitely a method to use when u find ur skin purging.

prior to learning about this method, if my skin purges, i jus stop the product entirely. but w this method, im able to slowly introduce the product to my skin and have it get use to it.

bc its my first time using retinol, i chose the daily dose retinol from kiehl’s and used the sandwich method.

i honestly did not go through any purging or irritation! i think bc the product is really suited for my skin and the sandwich method really helped.

🎀 things to note

if u apply a vvvvvv thick layer of moisturiser before ur retinol, the retinol wouldnt work. so apply a vvvv thin layer!

ALWAYS USE SUNSCREEN!!! esp if ure using retinol! im using the boj sunscreen stick & i really love it!
