Things to do in Nara, Japan 🇯🇵

Nara is full of Japanese culture and history and the perfect day trip from Kyoto and Osaka. If you‘re planning on visiting Nara, then here are my top three things to do.

✨ watch the mochi punding at Nakatanidou

Here you can watch the traditional way of making mochis in Japan. Two men are pounding the mochi in the fastest speed. The result is a delicous, warm and chewy mochi filled with a sweet red bean paste. Yum!

✨ visit the Tōdai-ji temple

Todaiji is one of Japan‘s most famous and historically significant temples. It‘s also home to one of the largest bronze statues of Buddha. It‘s quite impressive to see and definitely worth a visit.

✨ meet deers at Nara Park

Nara is well-known for their deers (it’s even the symbol of the city) that are roaming freely. The wild but friendly deers can by fed by special crackers. When feeding the deers, they will bow and you can try to pet them. It‘s such a fun experience!
