Old School Taiwanese Breakfast in Geylang 😍

Essentially, I’ll recommend the Meesua because it’s very flavourful on its own, I actually didn’t add anything to it until the end because I simply craved a bit of vinegar in it. Else, the Youtiao is pretty nice too! I used to eat it with the beancurd soup a lot when I was young so it’s a super classic flavour that doesn’t grow old to me.

The fried dumplings taste pretty oily and a little tough to chew off but overall, pretty flavourful still. For the tea leaf eggs, I’d say it’s a craving fish, tea leaf flavour isn’t the strongest but it’s decent. Pancake it’s pretty flavourful on its own, but it’s nothing mind blowing so you can skip that.

🛋Ambience & thoughts:

1. Getting wind from Fan - As you can see, it’s a really old corner shophouse spot in Geylang. Fans are not in the best condition nor are there sufficient fans around, so only certain spots gets wind, else it gets pretty warm! So pick the spots when the fan blows at it when you’re there.

2. Decent Cleanliness - With such an old fashioned spot, don’t expect squeaky clean spots! People usually eat and go so I guess in a way, people don’t really stay and chill.

3. Staff - I mean don’t expect exceptional service here, they’re just there to serve dishes to you when it’s ready. We always joke about the “no look serve” for all the dishes because they literally just talk to each other without looking at our table and serve, which we thought was quite funny.

4. Not crowded - Great! Perfect for introverts trying to eat in a relatively empty spot.

Overall, I think it’s refreshing to go to such a breakfast / brunch spot to kickstart your weekend since it’s along the way to town for any further activities.
