If you’re looking for a place that’s affordable, serves delicious interesting food, aesthetic AND perfect for anniversaries or birthday celebrations, my top recommendation will be Jypsy at One Fullerton. Jypsy by PS Cafe is a Japanese fusion restaurant located by the beautiful Marina Bay waters 😌 I was looking for a place to celebrate my bf’s birthday and I wanted to find something different from the usual Japanese resto or cafe fare. I stumbled upon Jypsy and wanted to give it a try after seeing their good reviews!

🍹 Jypsy Spritz ($19) - 5/10

Their signature drink containing prosecco, plum liqueur and grapefruit. We were pretty excited for this because we love prosecco and umeshu, but this drink fell short because we could only really taste the grapefruit. The alcohol kick wasn’t strong as well 😟 For a signature drink with their own name in it I honestly expected better. Don’t recommend.

🥟 Tiger Prawn and Lobster Bisque Gyoza ($18) - 6/10

The gyoza skin was super thin and soft, and it was also charred well. However, the lobster bisque was pretty meh because we couldn’t really taste the lobster, but the tiger prawn fillings were substantial! However, I wouldn’t get this again.

🍙 Smokey Unagi Fried Rice ($26) - 7.5/10

This was good! The unagi was really thick and not overwhelmed with the usual unagi sauce you get with unagi sushi. The wok hei from the rice was also very strong and I also quite like the additional tamago and sweet tofu at the side ☺️ Definitely a mains you should get if you love unagi sushi! 🐠

🍕 Ika Pizza ($26) - 9/10

THIS WAS DELICIOUS 🤤 I love how interesting this pizza is - down to its shape! It’s topped with cheese, squid, okonomi sauce, bonito flakes, small sakura shrimp and furikake. This was umami , yet sweet at the same time and everything goes so well together. This should be their signature!!! It’s the perfect depiction of Japanese fusion done right.

🍟 Nest of Fries ($16) - 9.5/10

This wasn’t part of our initial orders but we got it because almost every table was ordering it and it looked so big and interesting with its nest shape 🪹 We decided to yolo and try and we were so glad we did!!! I am not a huge fries person but this is smth I kept wanting to grab because it is not jelak at all although at this point we were pretty full already 😋The fries were also very fun to pluck, but do note that after a while you gotta start using your utensils to tear the fries stuck in the centre 😂 The fries itself are interesting because it is pretty thin, which makes it extra crispy!!! It is drizzled with teriyaki balsamic sauce which is genius because of the combi of sweet and sour, and it also cuts thru the wasabi mayo at the bottom. Wasabi taste was strong and complements well with the fatty taste of the mayo, and you can smell and taste the truffle with every bite. Please try this show stopper dish 💥

Would I come back again? For the nest of fries and ika pizza, YES!!!

I am impressed with how I didn’t have to break the bank for this meal, and for 2 pax, I paid $147+ which is very worth it considering the quantity and how it was a special occasion afterall. It is also very nicely situated by the bay, which makes it more romantic because you can walk off your dinner with the views accompanying you or sit by the water and chill. Do remember to reserve in advance if you’re coming on weekends. ☺️
