🔧Why I will never work in Engineering ever again🔧

It's time for a heart-to-heart about why I left engineering and the struggle of being a female engineer. I left with a 50% increment!

1. Endless Work Hours 🕖🕙🕘

Engineering life often meant burning the midnight oil, sometimes quite literally. Working outside office hours was the norm, especially when there wasn't a designated shift engineer. And let's not forget the lack of overtime pay unless you're physically in the plant. Communicating with engineering assistants via WhatsApp after hours? Yep, been there, done that, and got the no-OT-pay memo.

2. Slow Progression🪜🧗‍♀️

Career progression in engineering felt more like navigating through molasses. With a backlog of seasoned engineers eyeing the next rung of the ladder, advancement seemed like a distant dream. As my financial aspirations outpaced my career trajectory, it became clear that the technical engineering path wasn't aligning with my goals.

3. Navigating Gender Dynamics ♀️♂️

It's no secret that it's a male-dominated arena, and my experience was no exception.

Comments like "because she's a young and pretty engineer" overshadowed genuine efforts to build professional relationships. It's disheartening when success is attributed to appearance rather than competence. It left me questioning my place in the field.

To my follow engineer peers out there, I really respect you! You are making our professors proud by not leaving the field! Cheers to the power of engineering excellence! 🚀✨
