I’m sure many of you have seen these sky capsules everywhere on social media by now! But I’m going to give you a few tips to get some beautiful shots of these capsules against the beautiful blue backdrop of the sea.

🚋 𝟏. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬:

What most people do is take a sky capsule for from Mipo to Cheongsapo and take the beach train back. Most recommend that as your capsule will be on the outer rail track closer to the sea.

However, I took the sky capsule from Cheongsapo to Mipo instead as I wanted my shots to have the capsules I’m shooting to be closer to the sea instead of the other way around, thus, it made sense for me to sit on the inner track to shoot the outer track.

🌅 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Golden hour starts from about 5pm and sets behind Mipo station. It doesn’t matter whether which station you’re riding from as the ride can be seen on both sides and you can take photos against the sun or in the same direction of the sun as shown in my photos above!

A quick caution when shooting with phone cameras against the sun: you may get a lens flare easily which may lower the quality of your photo, but this shouldn’t be an issue on a DSLR/mirrorless camera!

𝟐. 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝟐 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐚𝐩𝐨, 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞!

Cheongsapo is worth more than just stopping over and taking the return trip back. It’s a beautiful costal town known for their seafood. Stop over for lunch and a coffee! They have a ton of multi-storey cafes facing the sea. I personally visited Cafe Rooftop; and I find their coffee and croffles delicious!

Visit the Daritol Observatory as well, before spending about 30-45mins shooting the sky capsules further uphill.

𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐚𝐩𝐨:

- There is a narrow road/alley to the right of the station (facing the sea) - head upwards and wait for the sky capsules to pass by and snap 📸 even better if you can get a friend to stand just right below the sky capsule! 🚨🚨 Beware of cars though!!

- Walk further up through the same road for about 5 mins - when you see a multi-storey cafe, turn left and walk till you see a mansion/private housing of sorts. They have a huge carpark/empty space where you can see the sky capsules so clearly against the sea.

🎟 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠/𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐞:

You will need a Korean phone number and credit card to reserve your tickets beforehand as walk ins are very risky! However, if you visit on a weekday (except Friday), there is a good Chance of walk in tickets before 5pm. Just head there a few hours earlier to purchase a ticket!

Also, sky capsule rides from Mipo to Cheongsapo sell out faster; if you ride from Cheongsapo to Mipo, there’s a higher chance of walk-in tickets.

Let me know in the comments if you’re visiting the Haeundae Blueline Park when you visit Busan!
