my experience @Liberty University as a digi major🎥

my major @ liberty was digital media & journalism with a focus on video editing!! i really enjoyed this major and it’s honestly one of the main things i miss over hanging out w friends.

CLASS 🏫: we barely had tests and when we did, they were usually open book and we would sit in a little circle like I showed in the picture and take our test. We also got to learn how to use a bunch of really cool equipment. That’s used in the industry and learn a lot about different camera settings. class time is always really fun and pretty chill

HOMEWORK📚 : there was not a ton of workload except when you were working on a project. I would have no homework for about two weeks and then all of a sudden I’d have a huge project to edit for hours, multiple days. But I did get to do a lot of really cool things and use different software like avid, davinci resolve & premiere pro.

PROJECTS🎬: I got to be a part of so many cool projects. I got to do a podcast about Taylor Swift and learn about audio mixing and levels. Filmed and directed a cooking show segment for a class project. i wrote and directed my own music video for a song that I wrote as my final project, & i also got to create a video game environment.

THE IMPACT🤩: I’ve always loved videography and photography, and this major has made me become more confident and starting my own business. I also work at a photography studio at the moment and my major made me very confident and setting up equipment and being able to use camera settings and be a reliable worker. This major also helped me realize I did not want to be in the journalism side of digital media.

✅PROS: there were a lot of great professors who genuinely cared about you and your grades, access to professional equipment, not a lot of tests, lots of internship and work opportunities on campus and in the college town and it was a fun class environment.

❌CONS: sometimes there is not access to computers to edit on unless you made an appointment, but it would have to be days in advance and if you needed to edit that same day, you could not get into that classroom. some classes you would not have a lot of assignments in so your grade depended a lot on the projects or the final project. & there was a lot of competition
