The embarrasing(?) reason I didn’t try this on!

I LOVE vintage! 🥰

If you’ve ever met me you’d know that!

Which means I am hyper aware that vintage pieces in good condition are hard to come by. If you find something you love, you need to hold onto it because you may NEVER see it again.

I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with this lemon & orange printed 1940s swimsuit when I found it in a small vintage shop in Edinburgh. The shopkeeper was SO sweet and wanted me to try it on before I bought it to know that it would fit…

Unfortunately, I knew I couldn’t.

I had JUST started my period and although I was wearing a pad, I was extremely aware that I was bleeding pretty heavily and could possibly stain the swimsuit if I tried it on.

And there’s nothing embarrassing about having a period! It’s absolutely natural! But I WAS embarrassed to have to say no to the shopkeeper in that moment.

However, that’s just what happens when you love vintage! Sometimes you have to make a little ‘sacrifice’ (and, in my case, be embarrassed for a moment) in order to keep 80-year-old garments in GREAT, wearable shape!

And I am SO glad I waited to try this on!
