One thing dorms will teach you is how to live efficiently. Living in dorms, I had to learn how to make the most out of a space that was way smaller than what I was used to. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as hard as I thought. Let me show you some really convenient ways to store your things.
📦Totes: Totes are probably the most obvious answer to the issue of storage. They come in a variety of colors to match any aesthetic you would want for your dorm and are also really conveniently priced. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes convenient to any space. When you’re dorm shopping this summer, keep a lookout for these!
📚Bookshelves: If you just originally have a dorm room with more space, or acquire one with more space as you get older, the best way to store more items in your space would be through a bookcase. You can put storage in storage this way. Personally, I was able to put other storage items like my lazy Suzan, smaller bins, and binder organizers in my bookshelf, but overall your storage options are maximized with a bookshelf.
🗃️Appliance/ supply furniture: My latest dorm was really lacking in storage. I didn’t have a medicine cabinet, desk drawers, or even a good amount of storage for my clothes. I would use items like my lazy Suzan to store my makeup and other skincare items. I also just had a desk organizer that allowed me to store items that I would usually put in my desk drawer. I’m sure there are a million other options and alternatives for storage making the point that this is an efficient form of storage.
👢Shoe racks: A shoe rack is the perfect addition to storage in the dorm. Just like the totes, these items can come in multiple variations to match every aesthetic. I had a lot of open space in my dorm to work with, and I hated the idea of my shoes just being in that space. A shoe rack really helped with that.
These are a couple items that really helped me to make the most of my extra space/lack of storage throughout the years. I hope these have helped you just as much as they've helped me!
