Food review ep.1: Taipei SUNWAY 🍣

I was on lemon8 searching for Japanese food near Ximen as I was realllyyy craving sushi! SUNWAY Siokudo was the most shared restaurant & I managed to try it before flying back to sg!

The opening hours are 11.20am-2.30pm and 5.10pm-9pm. I reached the restaurant at 5pm & saw a long q for it (pic 1) The waitlist has up to 20 reservations and at that point the restaurant was not even opened yet. (pic 2) 🤡

I ordered the signature salmon sushi. It is known to be HUGE and probably what attracts most people there. It cost 230TWD (~$9.50) for 3 pcs of sushi. It is not the cheapest but for the portion, I think it is decently priced. I also ordered the salmon fried rice with caviar, which cost 210TWD (~$8.60).

For the salmon sushi, it is definitely the biggest sushi i have ever seen. The salmon slice is so thick, it is like twice the size of the rice. However, they used sweet sauce on the salmon instead of the salty soya sauce. I personally didn’t like that cause the sushi is sweeter than normal. The sashimi is definitely fresh but the sweet sauce makes it not as appetising for me..

For the salmon rice w salmon caviar, I really wished that they gave me more of the salmon roe. The salmon to rice ratio was almost 1:1 LOL so that was really q generous. For this dish, it is not as impressive as compared to the ones i had in Japan.

So…. I feel like this place is abit overrated and I would not crave for it or go back just for this. However, i still think it is worth trying once for yourself!
