Food Review: True Cost

📍True Cost

Have been hearing so much about this place and finally got the chance to try it! Was it really worth the rave and more importantly, the price? Really ‘true cost’?

WHAT I TRIED:

🍽️ Wagyu Tenderloin (Pic 1)

If you love some tender, melt in your mouth steak…this one hits the spot! Simple steak accompanied by some baked potatoes and a side of salad. The brown sauce was just nice and didn’t overpower the steak, which was great! We asked for medium rare and it was perfect! Not the bloody kind you might get outside, but still juicy and tender 😋

🍽️ Grilled Barramundi (Pic 1)

Normally am a salmon girly, but decided to try something different! Was a pretty good dish, no overwhelming fishy smell or taste. But other than that, wasn’t very impressing.

🍽️ Miso Cauliflower Steak (Pic 3)

Gosh this really surprised me! Firstly the serving was hugeeee (sorry the top down angle doesn’t do it justice but I swear it was big). Usually restaurants that serve grilled cauliflower dishes tend to be quite stingy with the serving size, but this one was definitely worth your buck! It came with some coconut purée that somehow tasted like super smooth mashed potatoes. The cauliflower was also very flavourful and I’ll order this dish again for sure!

🍽️ Japan Emperor Oysters (Pic 2)

The pairing of the fresh oysters and the sauce-red onion concoctions was truly yum! If you like oysters, can give this a try!

🍽️ Hummus with Pita (Pic 1)

Firstly, horrible photo because obviously we ate some already haha! This hummus sits on the fence…it has quite a strong bean taste, but with the kimchi cucumber, it makes a world of a difference!

Worth: 2.5/5 ⭐

🍽️ Octopus Carpaccio (Pic 3)

This dish was part of their special Greek menu and it was a refreshing appetizer! Nothing too special though

Worth: 3/5 ⭐

🍽️ Baked Milk San Sebastián Cheesecake (Pic 4)

Ok wow this cheesecake was soooo creamy but yet not gelat? You got to try it to understand it! Was a nice sweet ending to the meal 💓

Worth: 3.5/5 ⭐

Overall I think True Cost did live up to its hype, and I had a great dining experience there! Do note that the concept of the restaurant is the way they serve up dishes at cost price, so they charge a ‘cover charge’ at the entrance. Depending on the time/day you go, it can be either $5 or $10/pax.

Would I go again? It’s a yes! Food was great and service was nice too! ☺️👍🏻
