Where to travel when you’re young and broke

Kraków is an underrated and affordable European destination, especially in the fall season! It has a beautiful main square lined with cafes and restaurants. A bugle plays every hour in Kraków’s main square - it has become an iconic symbol of krakow. This tradition has been maintained from a watcher in the main tower centuries ago, who would play at sunrise and sunset to open and close the city gates.

Prices are generally very affordable for foreigners. I stayed in a private room in a hostel for $10 a month (split with somebody). Food will be about $4-$10 per meal.

You can get lost in all of the rooms at Wawel Castle as well as visit their collection of suits of armor.

One of my favorite unique things they had was their ceramics stores which had many special pieces to take home as a gift or souvenir. You can find these in the wide streets near the main square.

If you love gothic art and architecture, Krakow has MANY old churches to visit and older buildings. Some of the ones i stepped into are St Mary’s Basilica, Holy Trinity Church, and Church of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist.
