Why The Poppy?

This beautiful flower changed my entire life. It stole almost 2 years from me, caused unimaginable pain, suffering, and despair. It broke my family apart and nearly killed me. You would never think something so beautiful could be so dangerous.

This flower has one of the most complex histories out there. The majority of opiates come from the poppy. It has been used for centuries as a natural pain remedy, a recreational drug, it has built nations, started wars, made the pharmaceutical companies untold profits, and has helped fuel one of the worst opioid epidemics in all of history.

The impact of this flower on my life is why I go by The Poppy. I have dedicated my second chance at life to educating, providing information, and support services to those whose lives have also been impacted by the Poppy. ♥️
