Bucklist travel // Balloon Fiesta Albuquerque, NM

After years of seeing this hot air balloon festival we finally had the opportunity to check it out! We were actually in the middle of another trip and just happened to be in the area the same time as this festival was going on. So we made the decision to wake up at 4 am to check out the sunrise session of the balloon launch!

They offer both sunrise and sunset session, but on our specific day they only had sunrise and as much as I wanted to sleep in we knew we had to go see it.

They had around 500 hot air balloons that they all launch as soon as the sun rises! It was insane seeing them all up in the sky and so much fun to pick out our favorite balloons, and characters that were flying over head.

Another amazing thing about the balloon fiesta is that you get to go so close to these balloons as they’re filling up and floating on over you. It really allows you to be in the experience and not just watching from afar.

I highly recommend checking this out next time you’re in town or planning the trip around this festival!
