Boxing is a challenging sport that has many benefits. Boxing requires speed, agility, power, and endurance. It’s good cardio and works your entire body, including your mind. Here are some basics for beginners.

Equipment - invest in boxing gloves and hand wraps. These are commonly sold together and you can find them on Amazon. I recommend gloves that are 10-12 ounces for beginners (female).

Boxing gym - there’s likely several boxing gyms in your area that you can take beginner classes at. Most of these gyms (or studios) will have punching bags or mitts that you can practice with. Popular boxing studios include Rumble and Title Boxing Gym.

Basic punching combinations - there are 6 main punches that are numbered. These correspond to the types of punches and you can build combinations.

1 = jab

2 = right cross

3 = left hook

4 = overhand right

5 = left uppercut

6 = right uppercut
