parents need to stop doing this

1. Mocking your children. If they are trying to say something to you seriously, the last thing they need is for you to act like a child and mock them. Hear them out, it only makes us more mad when you mock us

2. Accusing them of lying. Not everything that comes out of our mouths is a lie. If you just always assume everything we say is a lie, we’re more likely to actually lie to you.

3. Dismiss their feelings. The last thing we need from you is to tell us our feelings aren’t valid, and we should just “be happier”. Just because we are kids or we’re your kids, doesn’t mean we don’t get to have feelings.

4. Cut us off when we’re talking. “Stop talking back” when we are literally just explaining ourselves. And when a kid says I’m not talking back, don’t snap back at them saying “you are talking back, what do you think you’re doing right now, this is talking back”. Again, it only makes us more mad, and it’s frustrating having our opinion or our side shut down.
