Heyyo wassup homies it’s chiobu here! Neko, my cuzzy, cuzzy-in-law and myself ran a booth at the luggage market recently and we earned $495! Learn from our experience and make more money when you sell at the luggage market k ☺️ it’s quite a long post but read on if you’re really interested in making money 😉

1. Go at 9am! The luggage market only opens at 11am and we are told to set up from 10am onwards.. but there were already lots of people so early in the morning.

2. Make a huge signboard, and maybe attach a stick eg a broomstick to it so that it’s less tiring to hold it up!

3. Bring a money bag with lots of small change i.e. coins, $2, $5 and $10 notes.

4. Prepare a QR code for PayLah! (Cash was still the preferred mode of payment tho)

5. Bring items for both men and women. Was surprised by the demand for male clothing!

6. T-shirts in larger sizes, denim, dresses and Korean style clothes are hugely popular

7. Sell EVERYTHING: clothes, bags, shoes, accessories, makeup, perfume… even brand new undergarments and camp tshirts LOL.

8. Bring lots of items to sell! We brought 1 big luggage (100 items in it), 2 normal luggage, 3 ikea bags and managed to sell 3/4 of it. Could have sold more if we stayed longer but we left at 5pm.

9. Tried to sell baby clothes for boys but this was not popular. Could also be because we didn’t have a designated place to put these clothes and only took them out when we saw parents with kids… will try again next time.

10. Our pricing strategy:

- 10am-12pm: 1 for $5, 2 for $8, 3 for $10

- 12pm-2pm: 1 for $3, 2 for $5, 3 for $8

- 2pm-4pm: ALL $2

- 4pm-5pm: ALL $1

^ Dropped the prices as we wanted to try selling everything and leaving early as I was unwell but we should have just maintained bundle pricing or the all for $2 pricing for a while longer as there were still lotsa people buying.

14. Consider getting dividers to indicate which clothes belong to men and which belong to women

15. If you’re selling with someone else, paste stickers on each item to indicate which item belongs to who! Then write down on a Google sheet.

16. Divide and conquer! One person to receive money, one to sell and bag, one/two to sell and hold up the signboard :p

17. Look at what shoppers select and what they’re wearing, and recommend other items based on that! Or simply ask what they’re looking for :p

18. Bring snacks as you won’t have time to eat if you wanna maximize earning money!

19. Bring thermal water bottles to store cold drinking water for the day 💦

20. Wear a mask as it’s super dusty and crowded!

21. Bring plastic bags for customers (we bought 100 pieces for $6 from SKP)

22. Brought our own chairs but actually not needed as it’s so cramped!

These are all of our consolidated tips folks! 😚 Lemme know if you’ve any questions :) God bless your sales and I pray you make a lot more money than we did!
