Our counsellor quit.

It has been awhile since our last marriage counselling session and we decided to take a short break due to our current schedule and continue our regular sessions in a few months' time.

Due to our inactivity, our counsellor told us during our last session roughly a month ago that she has to temporarily "close" our case and we agreed, since she said that she will continue working our case when we're back anyway.

However a few days ago we received a dreaded text from our counsellor in our group chat that she was leaving the company and that it was her last working day. It was probably her office/biz line she was using to contact us as there was no response by the time we replied to her message.. 😔

We were both honestly so so disappointed because it was emotionally draining to open ourselves up to a complete stranger and to talk about our problems (not just marital problems but our family/past relationships). We really liked our counsellor and were finally feeling comfortable with her after 3 sessions and now we have to start again from scratch.. sigh. And we didn't have any time to ask her any questions before she left!

My greatest fear is H losing confidence in counselling and not willing to open up the same way again. Now we're hoping that the new counsellor from the organisation will be as great, if not we'll probably explore some of the options some kind souls recommended me here on Lemon8 (thank you!)
