I love the Blunies Brightening Deodorant, but …? 🤔

Finally achieving clean, white pits has been my dream for SO long, so when I heard the hype surrounding Blunies’ deodorants, you best believe I was sold. 🫶🏼

What I was especially interested in was their ingredient list - AHAs, niacinamide and collagen, which are all highly raved and sought-after skincare ingredients, so I can only imagine how amazing they’d work on underarms. 🤩

So, when I got a chance to be sent a sample, I immediately jumped at it. Ngl, I was slightly skeptical at first bc I read mixed reviews both on TikTok and Lemon8 - and was especially wary of the odour-neutralising effect as I’ve seen many commenting that it magnified their BO instead, which is ofc … not ideal.

Right off the bat, I liked the refreshing scent (fresh jill and aloe vera). 🌱 I noticed that their promised claims of fast absorption were not entirely the best; it did take a while to completely dry. When I’d leave the house before letting it completely dry, I’d experience increased sweating at my pits 😓😓 which felt crazy uncomfortable bc it felt like there was a thick, slimy layer of moisture on my pits. I did not experience any form of body odour or any other bad effects.

I did, however, experience a slight brightening effect. ❤️‍🔥 I can’t completely ascertain that it’s not just placebo effect, but my underarms do seem less dark nowadays - which is why I still religiously use the deodorant. To combat the discomfort I experience with the increased sweating after applying the deodorant, I usually apply it at night nowadays, on clean and dry pits (after showering), and I’ll also always make sure to allow it to dry completely before engaging in anything that might result in me sweating. I found that to be a game-changer as now I get all the amazing good effects of it without compromising my comfort. 🙌🏼

What’s my overall verdict? I do think that the Blunies deodorant is packed full of amazing ingredients, and I’m also rather convinced that it does brighten underarms. I will actually re-purchase the deo after finishing this bottle tbh! If you’re afraid of experiencing any potential BO/increased sweating etc., I’d highly recommend applying it at night after showering/before bed - many studies and articles have also shown that applying them at night might be more effective ( read article here )
