📚Black Milk by Elif Shafak

This is such a heartfelt writing by Elif Shafak. It felt like sitting down on most comfortable cushion while listening to her. This book is like a mini biography of her life as a woman and the changes she had in life from pledging to ‘Manifesto of Single Lady’, quoting a bizarre love quote to meeting her husband, her writing journey, marriage and motherhood.

I can’t help myself to shed tears from time to time. Even though I’m not in motherhood but I feel so emotional reading her journey. When she wrote on her conflicted self, I felt that we all have those sides but unable to recognise it. The way she put a characters as her ‘finger women’ amaze me.

I also get to know that Elif Shafak is not her first name but the name she choose for her. She also talked about lots of other female authors and incorporate with their choice and journey as a writer. It really opens my eyes to a whole bigger world out there. How the acceptability of community towards female role in normality and writing. I would love to check all of these women writings. My second book of Shafak and I pledge to read all her writing ❤️
