How to get the most out of Artbox this weekend! 💙

aaaaaa Artbox is finally back after 3 years— BIGGER & BETTER THAN EVER! 😆

With an extensive lineup of retail booths by local & foreign brands, entertainment by local radio DJs & SGAG, food and workshops, you can literally spend the whole day there if you want to 🤩

But with such a popular and great event also comes with a crowd HAHA so here are my tips to avoid wasting time there like my boyfriend and I did! 🫠 and of course, some recommendations on what to do there 🤪

Let’s break this review into 3 parts for easy reading:

Because of our hot & humid weather, festivals like Artbox tend to make me feel very warm and sticky so the fact that this year’s Artbox is sheltered + air-conditioned is a true blessing 🫶

💚 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻

There are several booths selling crystals and some others offering fortune telling / tarot card readings at Fortune Town 🔮 So if you want to gain an insight into your life or simply just love crystals and want to purchase some, Fortune Town is the place to be <3

A popular tarot reading booth would be Aura Logick hehe. Remember to book a slot before going down!! 😚

💚 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀

There are 3 workshops lined up for each weekend and last weekend’s (24-26 Feb) were Paper Marbling, Acrylic Pour and Crystal Stone & Aura Reading 🧘‍♀️

I really wanted to try the Crystal Stone & Aura Reading but didn’t know I had to register first + the next slot was super late so I eventually gave it a miss. :”)

💚 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵𝘀

There were soooo many retail booths from both local and foreign brands 🤩 You can expect to see booths selling clothes, accessories, bags, handmade goods and FILM CAMERAS!!!

The film camera booth is a collab booth by Hands On Film and Cyann — a jagua tattoo artist who previously designed one of their film cameras (she’s super talented btw hehe stay tuned for my upcoming post) 🤪🫶

💚 𝗟𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗳𝗳

There were A LOT of booths giving out free stuff/samples, especially the booths selling food & drinks 😋 (There’s a Burpple booth giving out free tote bags too hehe you can check it out!)

One particular booth you should look out for would be by Oatbedient— a local oat milk brand which was DAMN GOOD btw. Their chocolate oat milk was da bombz y’all should really try it for yourselves 🤍 I thought oatside was my fav but I might have found a new favourite HEEHEE

❌ 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗸𝘆

Ok I really hated how smoky it was and it was so bad that the smoke made me cough soooo many times (felt like someone was cooking chili) 😵‍💫 Maybe it’s just me :”)

The smoke will also make your clothes / hair smell so try to bring a small bottle of deodoriser or perfume so you can smell nice again after the event 🫠

❌ 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘂𝗲𝘀 & 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀

BESTIES, brace yourself because the queues and waiting time for popular food stalls are gonna be hella long 🥲

My bf and I queued 40mins for BIGBIGFRIES but ended up walking away with nothing because the waiting time for the fries was another 40mins…and we had to head off 🥹

❌ 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗔 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘁

There were many people who are there as a group so most of the seats are occupied T.T but you can try your luck at the barrel ‘tables’ in front of the food stalls where you can stand and eat your food 😋

❌ 𝗡𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀

There were very little signages on the booths— especially those who offer experiences like Jagua Tattoo, Caricature Drawing, Aura Reading, Workshops etc. Instructions were unclear on how we can proceed with the experience and whether or not we had to pay first 🥲💔

For example, we wanted to do the live caricature drawing so we queued and after 1 good hour of queueing, we realised that we had to pay first before queuing :”) but thank god the lady boss was super super nice and allowed us to stay in the queue 🤍

So with that, let’s head on to the tips on how you can avoid making the same mistakes I did 🥹

No point bringing cash because most of the booths only accepts PayNow!! Some of them offers card payment so just prepare your cards and a stable internet connection (try connecting to their wifi because the data signal in Expo sucks) 😌

Imagine waiting for 40mins only to know that you have to wait for another 40mins…🥲 Seriously just go ask the store with a long queue how long the waiting time is so you won’t be disappointed HAHA no need to paiseh one 🙂

If you wanna try any of their workshops, just register FIRST since they go by a slot by slot basis HAHAHA. You can find the booth near the SGSpark Squad installation and it looks something like the one I shared in pic 5!! 😙 If I’m not wrong, you’ll also have to pay first :) l

We literally ordered only one set of meatballs and one onigiri to SHARE because we thought that we’ll be eating more 😀 But by the time we were done queueing for activities, it was already dinner time and we had to go 🥲 v sad but true ☺️

They have a lot of food but the few to look out for would be BIGBIGFRIES, The Featherblade and Mia Tavola! Especially Mia Tavola please I love their tiramisu (from $17) soooo much hehe I’ll post up something about them soon 😜 stay tuned!

I foresee myself visiting again this weekend because it’s really just that fun + tickets are only $5.50 on Fridays and $6.60 on Saturdays and Sundays!! And hopefully I don’t make these mistakes again because it lowkey affected my experience there 😔
