Cafe Quenino @ Hidden find ❤️

Not gatekeeping this find as I do want them to do well enough to stay around, as much as I enjoy it being a secluded and quiet spot to enjoy in town.

Very under rated place and we were initially skeptical as we arrived to a small empty cafe with bar, supposedly for complimentary breakfast for the hotel guests. They do serve regular lunch and dinner fare as well. Everything was good but if I had to pick one out I'd say the beef carpaccio had way too much spicy chilli oil.

Portions were generous and price is reasonable but one might argue that the $5 water charge is rather OTT. However, since we spent a good 3+ hours here and it was refilled often so it's fine.

Very generous serving of sliced beef in the carpaccio but way too much spicy chilli oil. Was difficult to finish as it's spicy, great if U take heat well. I was tempted to rinse the last few pieces 😅 7/10

Char siu glazed pork belly with braised hispi cabbage. The tamarind sambal is ❤️ sweet salty combo with meaty layers of fat. Goes very well with coconut rice which is a must order to pair with this 9/10

Kapitan curry pot pie, loaded with tender boneless chicken and potatoes that were well seasoned. The fluffy pastry at the top soaks up the creamy curry well 9/10

Thick cut fries, 9/10 piping hot, crispy outside fluffy inside and salted just nice.

Tiramisu was not bad.. it's a cross between coffee ice cream and tiramisu 7/10 layers were a tad soggy.

Long story short, it's a great place to escape the town crowd on weekday dinner. Only 1/3 the tables filled out the whole night. Lovely wait staff. Voice travels though, as it's a small space. Would love to visit more often but it's not really accessible.
