Not sure whether to consider this a Chinese or Japanese dish but what’s more important is that it’s so simple to prepare and sooo yummy! Probably the easiest recipe I’ll ever post 😙
Prep & cook time: ~15 min
Ingredients (1 pax):
✧ pork belly (I used one strip, about 100g?)
✧ 1 TBsp soy sauce
✧ 2 tsp sugar
✧ vegetables of choice (optional)
✧ spring onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Steps:
1. Sear pork belly on medium-high heat
2. When sides are slightly browned, soak up excess oil with paper towel
3. Add sugar and soy sauce, coat evenly
4. Continue cooking till sugar is caramelised and pork is slightly charred
5. Serve with rice and vegetables of choice, or even a raw (pasteurised) egg yolk! Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds (optional)
♡ tip: you can add 1 TBsp of mirin for the meat to taste teriyaki-like! Also remember to multiply the ingredients accordingly if a larger portion of pork belly is used ^_^
